Abelsymposiene
"Abelsymposiene har som formål å fremme forskning i matematiske fag og styrke norsk matematikks internasjonale posisjon. Abelsymposiene skal også profilere Abelprisen, spesielt i forhold til det internasjonale matematikksamfunnet," heter det i vedtaket fra Abelstyret.
Norsk matematisk forening er ansvarlig for arrangementene. Det er opprettet et eget nettsted for Abelsymposiene, http://abelsymposium.no/
Dessuten skal det etter hvert symposium utgis en artikkelsamling. Springer skal utgi bokserien fra Abelsymposiene.

The scientific program will center around applied and theoretical aspects of time-frequency analysis, and operator related function theory. The aim of the Abel Symposium is to present the current state of the art and to discuss future research directions. The relevant topics include Signal Analysis, Pseudo-differential operators, Spectral Function Theory, Harmonic analysis.
The organizing committee consists of Yurii Lyubarskii and Kristian Seip (NTNU) The scientific committee consists of the following members: Karlheinz Groechenig (University of Viena), Michael T. Lacey (Georgia Institute of Technology), Joaquim Ortega-Cerdà (University of Barcelona), Mikhail Sodin (Tel-Aviv University).
