The Abel Lectures
The Abel Lectures took place on Wednesday May 25th in Georg Sverdrups
building, the University of Oslo with more than 200 guests seated in the
audience. Dean at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, professor
Knut Fægri gave the opening address. Professor Fægri reminded the audience
of the importance of identifying and nurturing young talent in science.
Chairs were the members of the Abel Committee, professor Ingrid Daubechies
from Princeton University and professor Don Zagier from Max Planck Institute
for Mathematics.
